Cora’s Story – From Tragedy to Triumph and now ready for her forever home.
Beautiful Cora, a young Staffie cross, was left to suffer for three long days after being hit by a car. By the time she reached us, she was paralysed and in unimaginable pain. She had been given up on. 💔
But Cora refused to give up. With expert vet care, patience, and a lot of love, this brave girl fought her way back – and now she’s fully recovered and signed off by the vets! 🌟 She’s ready to leave her past behind and find the forever family she truly deserves.
Cora is clever, affectionate, and full of character. She adores her food and treats, which makes training easy and fun – she picks things up very quickly. Out on walks she shines: she has great recall (especially with a treat involved!) and enjoys meeting other dogs, sometimes joining in for play, sometimes doing her own thing.
💚 Cora’s favourite things:
Always carrying a ball in her mouth on walks 🎾
Sunbathing and digging in the garden 🌞
Snuggling up on the sofa for TV time 🛋️
Car rides (though seatbelts and harnesses aren’t her thing!) 🚗
Chewing toys (and sometimes slippers – but she’ll happily trade for a toy!) 🧸
She can be left for a couple of hours and travels well, but she’s happiest when close to her people. Cora can get a bit overexcited outside and may jump or nip, so she’d be better with an older family rather than young children.
She might be able to live with another dog if introductions are done carefully, but she would also thrive as the only pet soaking up all the attention.
🏡 Cora’s ideal home will have:
A secure garden where she can dig, sunbathe, and play 🌿A patient, loving family ready to continue her training 💕
Plenty of time for cuddles, walks, and ball games 🐶
After such a tragic start, Cora deserves a life filled with love, safety, and happiness. Could you be the one to give her the forever home she’s been waiting for? ✨
BRONTE IS FINALLY READY FOR HER FOREVER HOME
This is the post we never dared to believe we’d write.
Bronte is a miracle. A fighter. A cat who quite literally came back from the edge of death. But her story didn’t start with strength it started with heartbreak.
Bronte was a much-loved community cat. Everyone knew her. Everyone fed her. Everyone enjoyed her gentle nature and endless friendliness. But when the moment came that she needed her community the most, when she was lying broken, bleeding, and fighting for her life…
they weren’t there.
She was attacked by an off-lead dog a tragedy that was never her fault, nor the dog’s, but the fault of someone who should have been responsible. Bronte’s injuries were devastating: bites that tore through her abdomen, a leg nearly severed, holes in her neck. She couldn’t run. She couldn’t move. She couldn’t even cry for help. The weight she’d gained from being fed by everyone made her slow, vulnerable…and it nearly cost her her life.
By the time she reached us, Bronte was in pieces. The fat around her wounds had turned necrotic, she’d gone septic, and she could no longer walk.
The vets mentioned euthanasia more than once.
Many believed she wouldn’t make it.
But Bronte did something remarkable
she fought.
We stood by her. We refused to give up. And so did she.
The Ralph referral hospital took her into ICU for 10 long days, battling alongside us to save her. And slowly unbelievably Bronte began to come back. First she lifted her head. Then she tried to stand. Then she took a shaky step.
Now she walks, she jumps, she loves, she lives.
Bronte didn’t just survive.
She chose life.
She chose to stay.
And now, after everything she’s endured, she deserves what she never truly had a forever home.
WHAT BRONTE NEEDS
* Indoor-only home – she can move well, but her most damaged leg is still a little wobbly.
• No cats or one calm, older cat she’s selective, and after her trauma, we respect that.
• Can absolutely live with children – she’s gentle, patient, and adores company.
• Someone who will never, ever give up on her again.
Bronte is 9 years old, beautiful, soft-hearted, affectionate, and unbelievably strong.
She lost her community when she needed them most but we are determined that she will never be let down again.
If you can give Bronte the safe, loving home she fought so hard to reach, please reach out.
Even sharing her story could lead her to the person who will finally love her the way she deserves.
She is currently fostered in Croydon.
And for anyone who wishes to help but cannot adopt, we are still fundraising to cover her nearly £10,000 vet bill. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us continue saving cats like Bronte.
Our miracle girl survived the impossible. Now she needs the one thing she’s never truly had - a home.
Our Stunning Mumma Rosalina
This lovely lady was dumped at a vets with her beautiful little boy and girl. She’s been a fantastic mother but does enjoy some time off from her little chaos-makers, Peach and Mario! Rosalina has integrated well with the foster’s resident cats, so we are very confident she would happily snuggle in with any cats in a new home.
Rosalina is about 1 year old. She’s a lap cat through and through. Get that duvet out she’s all over a snuggle in front of the TV and promises not to talk throughout the series like that extremely annoying family member.
Rosalina would like a garden to explore and watch the world go by when it’s not sofa time with you.
Due to her wonderfully calm nature, she also wouldn’t mind being tucked up with a toddler at bedtime for stories because she’s nice like that.
Get this girly under the Christmas tree this year; she’s all you need for Christmas.
Available for adoption mid-December.
Currently in foster in Slough.
Winnie and Finn
These two little cousin British Shorthairs are beautiful bundles of joy. Finn is approximately 10 weeks old, and Winnie is about 16 weeks.
Winnie is super affectionate and a real purr monster! She loves snuggling with Finn but sometimes enjoys her own space too. She adores her grub and likes to relax on a comfy bed when Finn isn’t keeping her busy.
Finn loves toy mice and play-fighting with his sister. He enjoys strokes and belly tickles. He looks up to his big sis Winnie and loves snuggling into her.
What they love most, though, is each other — so they must be homed together.
Hildas kittens
One minute, they are born dumped in a box as newborns in a block of flats, then they are wrapped in a Hermes blanket at Protected Paws.
Don't say there isn't light at the end of the tunnel.
Frank is ready to be your best friend
Frank has come a long way in such a short space of time. At Protected Paws, we pride ourselves on taking in animals who are so broken that we expect their healing to take months if it’s even possible at all. But Frank had other plans. He healed so quickly.
When Frank arrived, he was blind, with eyes so swollen he could no longer see. But thanks to his amazing foster mum and dad, this big man was lovingly nursed back to health.
Frank has blossomed into the most adorable soul. He’s approximately 2–4 years old, playful, loving, and always giving little head bumps for affection. He’s such a kind, gentle boy who wants nothing more than love. Frank would love a garden to explore, and we are confident he could live with children.
Frank was overlooked and passed by thousands of people on the street. Please don’t pass him by anymore be the person who adopts him.
What a boy!
Our Stunning Sienna
This pretty little girl is approximately 6 months old. She’s a silver tabby British Shorthair who came from a breeding farm. Sienna has been nothing short of perfect since being in foster. Her favourite thing is other feline friends, so we are hoping to find her a home with lovely cats who are ready for a little sister. She’s very sweet with humans too.
Can you offer this precious little lady a home with your other kitties?
Welcome Pamuk
Pamuk came into our care today from a lady who is, unfortunately, terminally ill. She wanted to make sure her beloved cats were safe and cared for before her time comes.
Pamuk arrived with a 15-year-old cat named Poppy, who we sadly discovered has a liver tumour shortly after arrival. Poppy and Pamuk are not bonded, and as Pamuk is a big, young lad, Poppy would actually prefer her end-of-life care to be a bit more peaceful and relaxed.
💛 Poppy will go into end-of-life foster care, where she’ll be loved and kept comfortable until she no longer has a good quality of life and her time comes.
🐾 Pamuk, meanwhile, is just 1 year old an absolutely lovely boy, very friendly and affectionate. We think he would bond well with another cat or even a dog friend. He’s a big boy but a gentle giant, in great health, and already neutered.
We want to honour his human mum’s wishes by finding Pamuk a wonderful home, giving her one less thing to worry about — knowing her beloved cats are safe and happy.
Hilda – Yummy Mummy
Hilda came to us after being found dumped with her newborn kittens in South East London sadly, a recurring story happening every single day.
Being only a kitten herself, we were worried that Hilda might struggle with motherhood, but she has been the perfect little mummy to her babies.
Hilda is extremely friendly and wants nothing more than love and a nice meal in return, she’ll give you her whole heart.
Anyone lucky enough to have little Hilda in their life will surely have a happy one.
Can you offer Hilda the home she so desperately deserves?
From the Streets to Your Heart - Meet Sookie
This is Sookie just 2 years old, but he’s already seen more than any cat ever should. Found alone on the streets, frightened and unsure, this beautiful boy never gave up on love. 🐾
Today, Sookie is safe… but what he’s really waiting for is someone to call his own. Someone to show him that life can be gentle, that hands can be kind, and that home is forever.
Sookie is a sweet, affectionate lap cat who melts into cuddles once he feels safe. He’s a little skittish at first, but it’s only because of his past his heart is pure gold.
He can live with another cat, but because he’s such a soft, gentle soul, he needs one who won’t take advantage of his kind nature. He’s the cat who lets others eat first, the one who just wants peace and love.
After a hard start, Sookie deserves a future full of comfort, warmth, and love. Could that future be with you?
Our precious, grieving Holly.
Holly came into Protected Paws on Sunday. A kind lady, Francesca, was taking a Sunday stroll through Holland Park with her newborn baby when she noticed a tiny dark streak in the grass. On closer inspection, she discovered a newborn kitten. As she picked up the frail little soul, the kitten’s mother now named Holly appeared and begged for help.
While Francesca was trying to work out what to do, another woman approached and said, “Oh don’t worry, we bought a cat house and have been feeding the mother, we’re taking the kitten.”
Of course, no right-minded person would take a mother’s baby away from her but sadly, kitten theft is becoming increasingly common, with people convincing themselves they are “rescuing” kittens while abandoning the actual mother behind.
Francesca made several phone calls and eventually reached us, and our team headed straight to Holland Park. When Kate and Britain arrived, they firmly explained that this was a domestic, most likely dumped, cat who should never be separated from her kitten. They safely collected both Holly and her baby.
Debs, our caring foster, took them in immediately. But it soon became clear that Holly was very unwell and had started bleeding heavily, and the kitten was fading fast. We attempted to introduce the kitten, now named Parker, to another litter to see if Ebony would mother him and she tried but Parker was too weak.
We rushed Parker to Megan, a specialist hand-rearer and tube-feeder, but heartbreakingly it was all too little, too late. Parker passed away.
Holly was rushed for emergency surgery, where vets discovered retained placentas. She was safely spayed and is now recovering well. She mourned her little boy, just as any mother would, but she is beginning to understand he will not be coming back. She has now settled beautifully in foster.
Holly is very young approximately 9 months old and has been through severe trauma at such a tender age. It’s our turn to help make her past a distant memory and ensure she finds the loving home she truly deserves.
She is sweet-natured, affectionate, and simply wants the same love in return.
Can you offer Holly her forever home?
If so, please apply below.
Dexter – CUTEY PIE EXTRAORDINAIRE
This little 10-week-old kitten was given up because he couldn’t be sold. Apparently his mummy and daddy are British Shorthairs, but this little man popped out looking a bit different. I think mummy might have had an affair! Since tuxedos don’t bring in the big bucks, off to the rescue he went.
Little Dexter may have been an impostor in the litter, but he’s been nothing but an impressor to us. He’s absolutely perfect. He’s funny, confident, and just a beautiful, joyful 10-week-old kitten looking to live his best life. He may not have the designer price tag, but he definitely has a luxury personality!
Can you offer this baby a home?
Meet Ariel, Aurora, and Eric three gorgeous, playful kittens who came into care with Protected Paws via Cats Protected when space ran out. They’ve grown into the sweetest, happiest little trio and will be ready for their forever homes in December!
Ariel – Our tiny acrobat and explorer! She loves to climb, play, and cuddle when she’s done adventuring. Brave, bright, and full of personality!
Aurora – The curious, bouncy people-lover who’s always first to explore somewhere new and then curl up for a nap on your lap. She adores her siblings and shows them all the best spots!
⚽ Eric – The gentle lap cat of the group. He loves chasing Pom Poms across the floor, following his sisters around, and snoozing close to his humans (or anyone warm!).
These three are well-socialized, confident, and loving kittens perfect additions to a family looking for affectionate companions.
If you’re interested in giving one (or two!) of them a forever home this December, apply.
Welcome Bolt!
Bolt got his name after Bolt Hussain because he was the last cat we removed from the breeder’s home and he was so fast! This handsome hunk definitely gave us the run-around, that’s for sure!
Bolt can be a little nervous at first, but he’s completely harmless and has clearly had a tough life. He’s approximately 18 months old and was rescued from a small, dirty flat used for breeding. He lived alongside 15 unneutered males and females, all either fighting for food and mating, or with the females desperately protecting themselves and their kittens. It was a sad existence, and Bolt is so grateful to be out. He’s slowly learning that he’s safe now.
Bolt would love a nice, quiet home where he can wander in the garden and enjoy cuddles from his humans when he feels ready. We also suspect he wouldn’t mind some feline company.
Bolt deserves to be wanted for more than just his appearance or the financial gain from breeding. He’s worth so much more than money he’s kind, forgiving, and gentle, and that’s something you simply can’t put a price on.
Can you offer this beautiful British Blue boy, Bolt, the loving home he truly deserves?
Oh Otis, what a handsome hunk you are!
Otis is a silver British Shorthair from a breeding mill we recently shut down. This big lad was used solely for his sperm and meant nothing more than a pound note to them.
He’s now looking for a home where love matters more than dollar signs!
Otis is a sweet, beautiful young man, about 18 months old. Coming from a home with multiple cats, we think he’ll be fine living with other feline friends.
Can you offer this lovely lad a forever home?
Meet Lucien & Cameron — Our Sweet Rescued British Shorthair Brothers! 🐾
These two adorable kittens were rescued from breeders, and now they’re safe, loved, and ready to melt hearts. 💛
Lucien and Cameron are easy-going, gentle, and inseparable — they never fight or fuss and are happiest when they’re together. 🐱🐱
💫 Cameron is the curious explorer — always the first to check out a new spot or chase after a jingling bell.
💫 Lucien is the calm, mature one — he loves gentle pats and quiet naps in cozy corners.
Both adore a good laser chase and a cozy nap after their adventures! 😻✨
If you’re looking for a pair of affectionate, playful kittens who bring peace and joy wherever they go, Lucien and Cameron might just be your perfect match. 💕
Welcome Sunny - the best kitten ever! ☀️
And Sunny is exactly what his name suggests! He’s one of those friends who can turn any bad mood into fits of laughter. You send him a voice note saying you’re feeling down, and next thing you know, he’s at your door with a new dress, dragging you out for the best night ever to cheer you up.
You call him on a Sunday saying you fancy a getaway, and by Wednesday you’re in a club in Ibiza, living your best life. Mention that a boy broke your heart, and he’s already built a bonfire you’re throwing all the memories in it with a bottle of wine, dancing around and laughing about all the reasons he didn’t deserve you.
But Sunny’s not just the fun friend he’s also the one who comes to every hospital appointment because he worries for you, holds your hand through the sad times, and stays up all night revising with you for an important exam even when he has work the next day.
That’s Sunny. 💛
He’s got the kindest, funniest, most loving personality the kind of friend everyone needs.
Sunny is only around 4–5 months old. He was dumped in a carrier for who knows what reason, but he waltzed into foster care with Viv like he’d always belonged there and now he makes her laugh all day long.
He’s absolutely perfect even sporting a little beauty spot that seems to symbolise his inner and outer beauty.
Everyone needs a Sunny in their life… and by applying to adopt him, that person could be you! 🌞
Meet Lovey named for her heart-shaped nose!
Lovey truly is the definition of her name. This little lady is only about six months old. She had been hanging around an estate and followed a family home after they gave her some attention and she didn’t leave until we arrived a week later!
Unfortunately, her finders were unable to keep her, so they called us out. As soon as we met her, this beautiful little kitten was like, “HI KERRY AND SAM, I'M LOVEY! LET ME GIVE YOU A BIG CUDDLE!” and she jumped straight into their laps as if they’d been best friends for years.
Lovey is so confident and just wants alllllll the love. She’s absolutely adorable!
❤️ If you want perfect… apply now! ❤️
Meet Our Lovely Biscuit Family 🍪
Cookie the devoted mummy, and her sweet kittens Hob Nob, Custard Cream, and Bourbon are a gorgeous Scottish Fold family who have already been through so much together. 💔
When they came to Protected Paws, they were in a terrible state unwell, frightened, and unwanted by the breeder who didn’t want to cover their vet bills. But even in the darkest moments, Cookie never stopped being a loving mum, keeping her little biscuits safe and warm. 💕
Thanks to the incredible care and compassion of their foster mum Leanne, this little family has blossomed. She’s nursed them through the hard days, showered them with love, and helped them learn that kindness still exists. 🌸
Now, Cookie, Hob Nob, Custard Cream, and Bourbon are ready for the next chapter a forever home where they’ll be cherished and adored for life. 🏡
They’ve overcome so much. Let’s help them find the happy ending they deserve. 💛
